The charming 2 bedroom maisonette, on the lower and upper ground floor of an 1850’s building, was large but the layout did not function for the professional couple who lived in it for a few years. The extensive remodelling and refurbishment involved taking the living accommodation to the lower ground floor by demolition and removal of all internal walls on the lower ground floor as well as the oddly shaped stairs. The living room was opened up to the charming patio garden through large glass doors. The rationalisation of the circulation area and stairs allowed enlarged bedrooms and bathroom on the upper ground floor. The new layout, together with the use of colours and materials transformed the maisonette into a light and airy, quirky and delightful space whilst ensuring efficient use of space.
